Reflective Essay
In our modern
world there are many people from different cultures, races and nationalities
are living together. Every group of people has their acts and habits that make
their culture unique and different. Some people have to left their country and
go to other country for many reasons maybe for working or escaping from wars.
When people from different cultures live together this is what we call “cultural
diversity “so we can define cultural diversity as mixture of different cultures
in one country. In this essay I will talk about three types of cultural diversity
and they are Stereotype, Prejudice and Discrimination.
First of all
I will talk about Stereotype, stereotype is a thought that a community adopted
about people from different cultures and races, for example some people says
that all blondes are stupid or all Muslims are terrorist or all blacks are criminals
and this thoughts are not right. So we can see that stereotype is disadvantage of
cultural diversity.
The second
type is Prejudice, Prejudice is the judgment on others without knowing anything
about them. For example some people judge others just by looking at them
without knowing about them. Many people make jokes about other groups or countries
maybe it is funny in the start but it may end with wars.
Finally the
last type I will talk about is Discrimination, We can defined Discrimination as
judgment to person based in his gender, age, ability, social class and other
personal characters. Or favoring over others based in their looking or talking
not based in personal experience. Isms such as racism or classism are an act of
Discrimination, for example offers a job for a woman just because of her
looking.
In the
conclusion there are more types of culture diversity but in my opinion this
three types are the main type, and we find solutions for all of this problems
if people start understand each other.
